Time for a change

You would be amazed (and saddened) by how few people these days actually know what a 'big band' is. When trying to attract new business for the band I spend a lot of time trying to educate people but I've come to the conclusion that we need a change if we are to grow.

Our market research has shown that the word 'swing' is well-known to people to represent the music we play. Contemporary artists such as Robbie Williams have had massive success under the banner of swing. There is also a huge swing dance resurgence in the UK which helps to further strengthen the term.

In line with bands such as Count Basie, Glenn Miller and countless others, the word 'orchestra' seems to best describe the scale of our outfit. Over the next couple of months, we will therefore be rebranding as 'Len Phillips Swing Orchestra'.

Have no fear, the music will remain the same! We are as committed as ever to keeping the flame burning for great big band music. Our new show '100 Years Of Big Bands' demonstrates our desire to grow the popularity this amazing genre.

In line with the change, we have new links for social media and, crucially for our live-streams, a new YouTube channel address. For Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, our handle is now @LPSwingOrch. There's no need to re-follow or subscribe as you'll automatically be taken to the new pages.

There is a new website on the way and various other changes that will occur over the next couple of months. Keep your eyes peeled!
