Welcome Mike Smith

For many years now, followers of the band have enjoyed the drumming of the great Harold Fisher. Since November, Harold has no longer been with the band. These big shoes to fill required some careful consideration on our part but we couldn't be more delighted to welcome Mike Smith as our newest member. 

Mike made his first appearance with us at the BDF Star Ball in January but many experienced his playing for the first time (and to rapturous applause) a few weeks ago at The Warren. Mike has had long tenures with both the BBC Big Band and Syd Lawrence Orchestra, he plays regularly with the Royal Philharmonic and many of you will have heard him on the radio as he plays for the majority of the BBC Concert Orchestra's broadcasts. You may also have seen Mike on the Simply Sinatra tour with Matt Ford. Mike is a busy session drummer and was on Michael Bublé's latest (and Grammy-winning) album. 

Quite simply, Mike Smith is the best in the business. Watch out for him at Gunton Hall next week!
